The war on drugs

Kokomo is not really capable of loving many things concurrently. He obsesses on one thing until the joy it generates is fully exhausted and then it’s done. Its done and Koko’s on to the next one. And the thing that’s floating Koko’s boat at the moment is the new War On Drugs album A Deeper Understanding.

The War on Drugs Kickstarts Koko’s Heart

Kokomo’s day only ever begins correctly with an extra hot, scrotum-smouldering five sugared coffee. And a side serve of a War On Drugs banger like the video below. It’s piped at full volume into his ear holes while he tears down the open road towards wherever the heck he needed to be five minutes ago.

When that Sun Kil Moon fuck-stick called them “beer commercial lead guitar shit” because they dared play louder than his sub-acoustic funeral ditties could muster at the Ottawa Folk Festival, Kokomo didn’t get mad. What kind of self-respecting man doesn’t love beer commercials? Lead guitar? Beer commercials and lead guitar? Geez dude when you say it “shit” becomes appealing.

Adam Granduciel spends more time wearing awesome denim jackets and meticulously crafting songs in the mixing stage than most bands spend on writing, recording, mixing and then touring their records around the world. Kokomo thinks Granduciel’s patience with the process and the final results are endlessly inspiring and one of life’s purest joys to behold. In fact, Koko has decided to put on hold all signing off on the final mix of his long awaited debut album until the mixes can contend with Granduciel’s sense of space while a thousand little melodic flourishes happen all around you.

Final Thoughts

So Kokomo proclaims today is The War On Drugs Day 2017, grab a copy in the highest possible fidelity, stop past the fridge and then hit the showers for a well-earned Friday night shower-beer to let the goose bumps dance across your spine as you become intimate with the Album Of The Year.
