Jebediah, Dallas Crane, End of Fashion & Divers – August 13 2022 – Chelsea Heights Hotel, Melbourne
As Kokomo made his way to Chelsea Heights Hotel, he was excited to see Jebediah and End of Fashion. Sure, there is no glory entering a suburban venue. And there are no ex-girlfriends or ARIA types to cross Koko’s path, to get in the way of his unquenchable thirst. So Koko could relax and enjoy the show with the locals. Happy and safe, knowing that after live music, there a Big Mac meal available across the road to help reduce impact of tomorrow’s hangover.
First some housekeeping. Since his return, Koko not known to be the cleanest man in the World. But he had minor issues with the Chelsea Heights Hotel floor. It was stickier than Crazy Horse cinema carpet and the waft of fart and urine cake in the air was not pleasant. This provoked involuntary response (drinking), and Koko blames the venue for his subsequent Big Mac Meal and hangover combo.
End of Fashion
Now Koko missed the first band, as he was busy gambling in the adjoining room, lost $100 on a doggie race. Woof. But he did see End of Fashion. Koko like End of Fashion, Justin Burford is a hunk. Vanessa from Jebediah now play with band, and she a nice addition. Justin extra flamboyant tonight, like Uncle Timmy Rogers when he have feather boa and too many drinks. The band burnt through their hits from first album, such as O Yeah, The Game amongst others and they play some new tracks. Justin (The Hunk) promise new album in 2023. Koko enjoy this show and will likely see the band when they tour next.
Dallas Crane
Koko not see Dallas Crane for a long time. Koko also forget how good they are live. Big sounds with AC/DC delivery. Frontman Dave Larkin was firing up the sleepy, not drunk enough audience and the band played through the hits such as Dirty Hearts, Curiosity and Ladybird. Koko was very impressed with Dallas Crane, and speaking of AC/DC, they play cover of classic AC/DC song Let there be rock which fire up crowd. Great to watch, the band had a lot of fun on stage, as Larkin was very entertaining with his pub rock moves. Koko be sure to see them again, hopefully soon.
Jebediah
Koko was well lubricated for the big dogs when they rolled onto stage. Jebediah bring their style of power-pop with big chorus. Diehard Jebediah fans sang along, danced and knew every word and every song. By this stage, crowd were nicely sauced and had a great time, crowd surfing, throwing beer in air and bumping into each other.
Jebediah played the big hits, Leaving Home, Jerks of Attention, Fall Down and Koko particularly fond of their album Kosciuszko, and they play tracks from that too (such as Control and She’s like a comet). Kevin from Jebs make comment about last 2 years of covid, but also, he make joke that it 1996 again. And Yes, that probably why Koko enjoy himself so much. Beer+ Bands of youth = Top Night. Help Koko forget his stolen car and child support payments for a few hours.
Final Thoughts
Overall, Koko enjoyed all bands, enjoy all beers and he forgive Chelsea Heights for its encrusted floors. As long as they continue to bring more bands to venue, it be ok. And it look like more bands coming, so Koko will be there…
